Vetiver Essential Oil is distilled from the roots of a grass used in India and Sri Lanka for the creation of woven matting. It is used in and aromatherapy and massage therapy, in skin-care products, and as a base note in perfumery.
The word vetiver comes from the Tamil word that means 'hatcheted up', a description of the way in which the roots are collected.
Vetiver oil has been used in traditional medicine in South Asia, Southeast Asia and West Africa for thousands of years. It’s native to India, and both its leaves and roots have wonderful uses.
Vetiver is known as a sacred herb valued because of its uplifting, soothing, healing and protective properties. It’s a natural body cooler — making it extremely popular in tropical countries. In fact, in India and Sri Lanka it’s known as the “oil of tranquility.”
Uses: According to recent research vetiver oil is used for treating symptoms of ADHD and ADD.

It’s also known to increase libido and treat insomnia without drugs. Add 5 - 10 drops to bath water for relaxation and peaceful sleep.
