Elemi Essential Oil aroma is soft, fruity and slightly herbaceous. It is in the Frankincense and Myrrh family and is antiseptic, analgesic, expectorant, stimulant and tonic substance.
Elemi Essential Oil is not widely talked about but if you have a sinus infection, or nose congestion, this oil will open you right up. Add 3 drops to a bowl of steaming hot water, place a towel over your head and inhale, relieves sinus congestion.
Elemi is a tree found in the tropical forest in the Philippines. The oil is extracted through the steam distillation of the gum obtained from the tree.
Elemi is mainly used in soap making, cosmetics and Perfumes. It is believed that ancient Egyptians used this oil for embalming mummies.
Other benefits: Boost immune system, protects from microbial infections, provides relief from respiratory problems such as lung and nose congestion, effective in relieving pain caused by colds and earache.
Stimulate circulation, secretion of hormones, and enzymes from endocrine glands.
Also beneficial in joint pain, digestive disorders, sinusitis, chills and mumps.
To use: Apply 2-4 drops directly to skin, unless skin is extremely sensitive, IF SKIN IS SENSITIVE, MIX WITH CARRIER OI,(coconut. olive, jojoba, sweet almond).
To relieve sinus or nose congestion, add 3-5 drops in 8 ounces of hot water and inhale the steam or infuse in a diffuser. Do not get into eyes.
Blends well with Cinnamon, Frankincense, Lavender, Myrrh, Rosemary, Sage and other Spice oils.
